Having a good morning routine in place is very important because that’s what determines the kind of day you will have.
I have personally struggled with having consistent morning and night routines but I’m slowly getting into it thanks to this healthy morning routine checklist.
It’s very easy to follow and perfect for anyone trying to build a morning routine.
Without any further delay. Let’s get into it.
A good morning routine starts the night before. Here is how to prepare for the following day:
Healthy morning routine checklist (the night before)
Tidy up your space
Tidying up your space before going to bed is the smartest thing to do. It allows you to wake up to a fresh clean area every morning and it will instantly boost your mood. I always make sure I wash my dishes and clean my kitchen before I sleep, no matter how tired I am. I also like to return things to their original places and burn some scented candles. This keeps my space clean and manageable always. I usually deep clean once a month during my monthly reset routine and doing this daily makes the whole process so much easier.
Plan your outfit for the next day
This is truly a game-changer. I love to plan my outfit for the next day the night before just Incase I wake up late. I hate rushing because I always end up creating a huge mess in the process.
Write down your todo list
I love planning. I love to plan my days, my life, everything! I am currently transitioning to a digital planner so I do all my planning in Notion. Here is my 2023 notion setup tour if you’re curious about what my planner looks like and this is the 2023 dream life notion planner template I’m currently using. I’m obsessed. Planning your day the night before lets you structure your day properly to ensure you get everything done efficiently. This also prevents you from burning out and adding too much to your plate.
Sleep early
Having a good night’s sleep is very important because that’s the only way you can wake up feeling refreshed and energized. If you want to start waking up early, you must start sleeping early. I normally wake up around 5:30 am so I always try to sleep before 10 pm. That way, I get enough sleep and wake up ready to conquer my day.
Once you get these done the night before, it frees up a lot of time for you in the morning. now, let’s talk about the healthy morning routine checklist that is slowly changing my life.

Wake up early
Starting your day early will literally Change your life. Ever since I started waking up as early as 5:30 am, I have been able to get so much more done. I love to study in the morning because it’s more convenient for me and I’m able to do that because I decided to start waking up earlier than usual.
If you want to start waking up early as well, start small. Start waking up 30 mins earlier than you usually do. Once your body adjusts, you can then proceed to start waking up an hour earlier and so on. One of my biggest tips to help you start waking up earlier is to start sleeping early and always have something you look forward to the following day. That’s why planning your day the night before makes all the difference.
Pray
I’m quite a religious person so I don’t joke about my prayer. Praying is always the best way to start your day. I feel motivated and inspired once I finish praying.
If praying is not your thing, you can use this time to meditate and/or journal. The goal is to have a few minutes to yourself to reflect.
Drink water and make your bed
To stop myself from jumping back to bed, I always make my bed immediately after I wake up. Drinking water first thing in the morning is very good for your system as well.
Open up your windows/curtains
Nothing feels better than watching the sunrise. That’s why I love to open my windows. This also allows fresh air to flow into my room and ventilate it.
Move your body
If you’re trying to become that girl this year, you should make your physical and mental health a priority. Moving your body every morning is very important. Stretching and doing yoga are good starting points. I skip every morning and I have started seeing a difference in my physical health. I am trying to incorporate jogging into my daily routine as well but for now, I’m taking baby steps. And that’s what is important. Small progress is still better than none. Hopefully one day, I will find myself going to the gym regularly.
Shower and do your skincare routine
Showering immediately after working out is the best to avoid getting body odor. I take a hot shower and immediately after I do my skincare routine. If you don’t have a skincare routine yet, I have so many skincare posts to help you get started. Just browse through my beauty category.
Have a healthy breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I used never to eat breakfast because I felt like it was a waste of time and I usually don’t wake up feeling hungry but ever since I learned the benefits of taking breakfast, I have started eating breakfast.
since I’m usually not hungry in the morning, I tend to eat something that is light yet highly nutritious like a smoothie. I love making and eating smoothies so that’s my go-to breakfast. On days I’m hungry, I have noodles or some toast or leftover food. I just always make sure I eat something before I leave for school.
