What’s better than Friday? Saturday! The weekend is the most anticipated time of the week. That’s the only time that we get to do the little things that matter.
So in this post, I will be talking about things that you should start doing on Saturdays (Saturday chores) to get the most out of the weekend so that you can have a productive week.
Important things to do every good Saturday morning (weekend routine)
Wake up early and clean your house/room:
Good morning Saturday! my morning routine starts by waking up very early in the morning. Waking up early means you have more time in a day. I honestly work better in a clean environment. Open your windows and let some fresh air inside. Clean your room, wash your bathroom, clear up your workspace and say your Saturday morning prayers.
If you haven’t done your dishes, do them. I also love to do my laundry on Saturday so I do that and I also make sure I fold everything and put them in their proper places. Don’t forget to lay your shoes out in the sun. This is very important too.
Doing this will save you some time during the weekdays and you can focus on more important things.
Plan your week
This is my favorite part, planning. I love to sit down and write all my goals and to-do list for the week. This way, I will be able to keep track of my progress and have a productive week. This printable life planner always makes planning super easy and fun.
When you’re doing this, make sure you set realistic goals and don’t procrastinate anything. Once you start scheduling, trust me, your life will be much more organized and you will be super productive.
Here is how to plan a great week
1. Review your calendar
Check your calendar and see what are the important things you have to do next week. This will mentally prepare your mind and it will give you an idea of what to include in your weekly plan.
2. write out your to-do list
You should spend at least 10 minutes writing out what needs to be done throughout the week. Make sure you prioritize. The most important tasks should be highlighted and be tackled first.
As a college student and a blogger, my to-do list normally has tasks like:
• write a new blogpost
•create graphics
•complete all notes
•study previous notes etc
Nothing feels better than ticking off a task from your to-do list. I love to write my tasks in my planner but sometimes I write them down on my phone so that I can be reminded of them constantly.
Some of my favorite apps
Notion: Notion is a lifesaver. I literally do all my digital planning in notion. from journalling to content calendars, 80% of my life is organized in Notion. you can check out my notion set up to have an idea of what I’m talking about and Get my entire notion template.
Any. do: this is a very simple app and very easy to use. You just write your task down and you can even set reminders. The good part is that it’s free.
Asana: while a lot of people use it to write down daily tasks, I dedicated it to blogging matters only. I love to plan my blog posts here and write out blogging ideas.
Google calendar: this is another amazing planning app. You can color tag tasks which makes it more appealing and easier to monitor tasks throughout the week.
3. set realistic goals for the week
When you write down things you want to achieve, it motivates you to accomplish them. Always set 3-5 goals you want to meet before the weekends and try and crush them. This way, you will be more focused.
I wrote a more detailed post about how to plan your most productive week ever!
Pamper yourself:
You need to start having a selfcare Sunday!
Your skin must have been looking all rough and tired from the stress you went through during the week. You should have a bubble bath, shave, exfoliate your skin, wash your hair, and do your face mask. Little things like this are mood boosters.
You will feel happier and look prettier. I love to also have a manicure and pedicure and then once I’m done, I throw on some clean, comfortable clothes and watch a movie or surf around on YouTube. Here is how you can have the best spa day at home and also check out my self-care routine and skincare routine.
Plan out your entire outfit for the week:
this is not just a great time-saving hack but it allows you to carefully match clothes that will make you look classy yet professional. it also gives you the chance to see if you have to do your laundry that week. so pick out your outfits and arrange them on one side of your wardrobe. work smarter, not harder
Meal prep
A lot of people love to do this because it saves them so much time. If you’re one of them, then make sure you do that during the weekend so that you won’t have to worry about it throughout the week.
I love grocery shopping. I go to the market and buy fresh veggies that I will use for the week and some spices and herbs. That way, I won’t visit the market until the following week.
Turn off all gadgets and meditate
I love meditating. It’s one of my favorite things to do. I prefer to meditate at night right before I sleep or whenever I am alone. Meditation helps you to reflect on your life. It helps you to regain focus and keep you productive. Did I also mention that you think of the best ideas during meditation?
This coming good morning Saturday, switch off all electronics and meditate for at least 30 minutes. Trust me, you will see an improvement in your life and you will become more productive during the week.
Make some time for family and loved ones
the family should always come first. once you have done the above-mentioned, the remaining time you have should be for bonding. visiting relatives and friends is not always possible during the weekday especially if you have a 9-5 job or even a student so use that opportunity to go see them, plan fun outings with friends, or even call all of them on the phone. making little efforts will surely bring you guys closer.
