Glow-up checklist

It’s finally that time of the year again when you’re looking for ways to level up, reset your life, and eventually become that girl.
I have seen a lot of glow-up challenges and how-to glow-up posts but unfortunately, most of them set unrealistic standards. While you can do most of what they said you need to do and they work, you probably won’t be able to remain consistent. Why? Because they want you to do so many things at the same time.
In this post, I will give you a very realistic glow-up checklist that you can follow to glow up in all aspects of your life. These are easy tasks you can get done daily and become consistent with.
Before we start, I want to challenge you to practice these for the next 30 days (one month). Leave a comment below if you’re up for the challenge and let’s stay accountable together.

Physical Glow-up Checklist
Take your skincare routine more seriously
Your skin is the largest organ and deserves all the love and attention it can get. Creating a skincare routine that works for you will have you looking like a different person in a few weeks. You will be glowing and you will notice all your skin concerns finally getting better.
Your skincare routine doesn’t have to be dramatic and 12 steps long. If you’re a total newbie, start small. Cleansing, moisturizing, and applying sunscreen are more than enough.
I have a whole section on this blog about skincare because I’m obsessed so check it out if you want to learn more and get product recs.
This is my skincare routine and when you check it out, you will see that I am obsessed with Korean skincare products. Well, there is a reason for that. They work, they are very affordable and very accessible.
Let’s not forget your body. Make sure you’re using great body washes, body care products, and exfoliating regularly. Your body deserves as much love as your face gets.
Move your body
You can’t have your dream body just be simply dreaming about it. You have to work for it. If you can, sign up for a gym membership or try home workout programs if you don’t have a gym nearby like me. Going for walks helps a lot as well.
I recently started skipping in the morning and I like it. I can skip for 20-30 minutes straight and feel myself losing those extra pounds.
Stay hydrated
The reason why you see staying hydrated everywhere is that it’s important. If you live in hot places like I do, your water intake should be high. It helps your skin, your digestive system and so much more.
If you don’t like the taste of water or you simply don’t like drinking water, try adding some fresh fruits inside. I like to add some lemons, cucumber, or strawberries to my water and it has helped with my water intake.
Another great hack is to have water with you always. Having a Stanley Cup or an Owala cup with you at all times will make you drink more water subconsciously.
Put more effort into looking your best
There is something about putting more effort into looking good. When you look good, you feel good. You feel like you have your life together and are more confident and feminine.
Every morning, after you take a shower, wear a cute outfit instead of a fresh set of pajamas. Yes, even if you’re not going anywhere.
Get your hair, nails, and lashes done. This is something you can do once a month but it makes a huge difference, If you want to feel and look prettier, these are some steps you can take.
Mental glow-up Checklist
when we are trying to glow up, our mental health should be part of the journey. Physical and mental glow-ups should go hand in hand because you need both of them. Here are a few things you can do to have a mental glow-up:
Plan your life
By now, you should have an idea of where you want to be in the next 5 years or even before this year ends. If you haven’t done anything to get closer to your goals, it’s time to go back to the drawing table.
My favorite planning tool is Notion. I have my whole life planned in notion and it’s so easy to use, track projects and so aesthetically pleasing. This is the notion template I’m currently using and it has everything you can ever need to organize and manage your life.
Make a list of realistic goals you want to achieve before the year ends. Your big goals shouldn’t be more than 5. Write down why you want to achieve these goals and see if you can relate each goal to the other one. Take these goals and break them down into monthly goals, weekly goals, and daily goals.
I have a whole post about how to set realistic goals so make sure you check that out. At the end of each month, it’s always a great idea to have your monthly reset routine to reflect on the month and see how far you’ve come. I personally always look forward to this routine and I also enjoy watching other people’s monthly reset routine on YouTube.
Reduce your screen time
Spending so much time on your phone scrolling through social media is affecting you more than you think. There is always some bad news somewhere on the internet and consuming too much of this information can make you lose the motivation and zeal to do anything.
If you want to reduce your screen time, start by not going on your phone immediately after you wake up. I incorporated this tip into my summer morning routine and it has been a game changer.
Instead of being on your phone all day, Start a new hobby, Take a new course, learn a new skill, or start an online side hustle like an Etsy shop.
Another tip is to set screen limits for your social media apps.
Practice affirmations and self-love
Learn to say nice things about yourself. Call yourself beautiful, tell yourself you’re doing your absolute best and you’re proud of what you’ve accomplished. The best way to practice self-love is simply by romanticizing your life. Take yourself out on dates. Don’t wait for someone else to get you flowers. If you want flowers, go get some flowers. Little things like these can instantly put us in a better mental space.
Another great way to practice self-care is by journaling. I started journalling and it has improved my mental health. Getting a 5-minute journal and filling it daily is a step foot in the right direction.
Never stop learning
The more you learn, the more you will realize that you don’t know anything, lol. There is so much we can learn that can make us better, happier, and even make us more money.
Each day, commit 1-2 hours (if you can) to expanding your knowledge. This can simply be done by reading a book, listening to audiobooks, watching a video, or taking an online course. There are so many free resources available to you than you can imagine. Make use of them. Your future self will thank you for that.
To date, I’m always grateful for YouTube and some amazing YouTube channels. Through YouTube, I learned how to cook, bake, become better at math and chemistry, and even how to start my small business and blog. If you’re not utilizing YouTube, you should start doing that. And the great part, I didn’t pay a single cent for all this knowledge I’ve gained. What a time to be alive.
Always Declutter
I honestly dislike when my space is a mess. Learn to declutter your spaces as often as you can. I like to do this when I’m deep cleaning during my monthly reset routine.
Get rid of clothes you no longer want, check all your makeup and skincare products, and throw away any expired products.
Decluttering your devices as well is very important. Delete pictures you no longer need, get rid of unimportant emails, and organize all your files and documents.
