Now that we know the causes, here is a simple lip care routine that will give you soft pink lips always.
Invest in lip balm with SPF
Since I started using a lip balm with SPF, I’ve noticed my lip pigmentation has gotten so much better and my lips are looking brighter than ever. If you don’t use a lip balm with spf, I highly recommend you try them especially if your lips pigmentation won’t get better. Here are some lip balms with SPF worth checking out.

Some lip products also have special ingredients in them to help you fade your lip pigmentation even faster. One that is worth trying is the Minimalist 8% L-Ascorbic Acid Lip Treatment Balm. It contains L-Ascrobuc acid, a form of vitamin C, Glycerin, and Vitamin E to treat pigmented dark lips.
Exfoliate your lips regularly
Exfoliating your lips will help you get rid of dead skin cells. This is something you should do especially if you have flaky skin. You can get a lip scrub or simply make yours at home.
Here are my favorite simple homemade lip scrubs:
Homemade lip scrubs
1. Honey & Sugar Scrub
- 1 tsp honey
- 1 tsp sugar
- Mix and gently scrub your lips for 1-2 minutes. Rinse off and apply lip balm.
2. Coffee & Coconut Oil Scrub
- 1 tsp ground coffee
- ½ tsp coconut oil
- Scrub in circular motions for smooth, exfoliated lips.
3. Lemon & Sugar Scrub (For Lightening Dark Lips)
- ½ tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp sugar
- Rub on lips for 30 seconds, then rinse off. Use 2-3 times a week.

Get a lip mask
A lip mask is worth the hype. When you apply it overnight, you wake up with the softest lips ever. This also prevents your lips from getting very dry throughout the day because they deeply moisturize and nourish the lips. If you’re looking to get a lip mask, these should be your top options:
