My skincare routine as a college student

January 15, 2020rumaisah
Hey guys!
In today’s post, I will be sharing my morning and night skincare routine. Having a skincare routine is very important because you need to keep your skin healthy and clear.
My skincare routine is very simple and straight to the point because as a college student, I don’t have a lot of free time to spend doing skincare routine although it’s very therapeutic for me. If you want to know how to create your own skincare routine that will work for your skin, then make sure you check out this post here.
Without any more delay, let’s get into it.

My morning skincare routine

Step 1: cleanser

This is one of the most important steps in my routine. I always make sure my face it’s free from any oil because girl, the amount of oily I have on my t zone when I wake up is unbelievable. I love to use the Cetaphil daily cleanser because it’s not very harsh on my skin but it’s effective enough to get rid of any dirt. Most of the days, I just use my black soap. That thing changed my face for good. If you want to know my story with black soap and how it cleared all my acne, check this post here.

Step2: Toner

If you think your face is squeaky clean after using a cleanser, just wait till you use a toner afterward. That thing will humble you! I can’t overemphasize how important toner is yet we tend to neglect it. In this new decade, that has to change! My all-time favorite is the Thayer’s witch hazel toner. That thing works like a charm. Here are my top drugstore toners. Sometimes I love to experiment a little bit and use this DIY toner. It’s wonderful too.

Step 3: eye cream

It was only recently that I started using eye cream and that was a game-changer for me. Just a few weeks into use, I could clearly see a difference under my eyes. My eye bags reduced and my dark circles started fading. Although this natural remedy helped me a lot in reducing these two, a combination of that with the eye cream made the entire process way faster. Applying vitamin E oil directly under my eyes was also a great alternative for the eye cream for me.

Step 4: moisturizer

Make sure you keep your skin moisturized always. I love trying out so many moisturizers but my favorite so far is the Neutrogena hydro boost moisturizer and the Neutrogena oil-free moisturizer. Those two will leave your skin feel very plump and soft.

Step 5: sunscreen

This is very important. Never neglect your sunscreen for any reason. Even when it doesn’t feel sunny at all, make sure you wear your sunscreen all the time before going out. This is normally the last thing I do in my morning skincare routine. It helps to protect your skin from harmful UV rays emitted by the sun.
That is pretty much all I do in my morning skincare routine. Next is what I do in my night routine.

My Night Time routine

My night routine is pretty much almost the same with my morning routine but when it comes to cleansing, I will double cleanse. Double cleansing is basically using a cleansing oil first to dissolve all your makeup and dirt and then using your regular cleanser to remove all the makeup, sebum and dirt. This is actually way better than just washing your skin with your regular cleanser without using a cleansing oil first. Then I use my toner and eye cream. When I am breaking out, I will usually use any acne treatment or retinol that I am currently using. Once that is done, I will apply my night serums and then moisturize. And that is all I do in my night time routine.

Extra things I do not frequently

Every once or twice a week, I love to apply face masks. It’s a great way to get all that toxic stuff out of your face. I have an entire post that I talk about my favorite face masks here. I also exfoliate thrice every week with my current facial scrub or some times, I love to use these homemade face/body scrubs. It’s always a good idea to get rid of those dead skin cells from your skin because I noticed that my products tend to work better when I exfoliate. sheet masks are very essential especially on days when you feel like your skin is very rough and dehydrated. don’t forget to scrub your lips every day and use a hydrating lip balm afterward.
If you have some coins to spare, I will recommend getting facials At least once a month or once every two months. Your skin condition will improve drastically especially if you’re suffering from acne, pimples or a lot of blackheads and whiteheads like me. I will also like to advise you to make sure you know the esthetician you’re going to. Always check the spa out online and read the reviews. Ask your friends and family for recommendations. You don’t want anyone making things worst for you.
That is all I have for you today, I hope you enjoyed reading this and gained a few things from here. Make sure you check out this post where I talk about my top favorite skincare products of all time. I still use them and I believe in them.

Wow – I’m so impressed by your skincare routine. I was not as kind to my skin when I was in college – it wasn’t until my senior year that I really started to pay attention to developing a good routine.

My routine, both morning and night, is super similar to yours. The only difference is that I apply a serum after toner/before moisturizer (morning/night), and at night I add Marula oil as a final step to lock everything in.

I’ve never tried black soap, but now I’m super curious. So I’ll be checking that out for sure!

I just discovered the magic of toner, and it is a GAME CHANGER! I’m so glad you mention it here! I tend to have super dry skin, so I have to pack on the moisturizer like crazy. But the toner has helped balance my skin a little, and it’s producing a little more oil on it’s own. I also try to do face masks as much as possible. Your skin care routine is excellent! I wish I had started taking better care of my skin earlier.
