Every single day, we keep trying our best to make our skin look as flawless as they can be. We read so many articles and watch so many YouTube videos on what to do to actually make our skin become #skingoals.
In this blog post, I will be sharing my top 10 skincare advice that I ever received from different people and what I have learned from the past years, experimenting with my skin. Without any further delay, let’s get into it
1.Drinking a lot of water really helps
Table of Contents
If you’re someone that can literally go hours without taking water, you really need to change that. Drinking water helps to flush out toxins from your skin and it helps a lot in keeping your skin plump and hydrated. You have to start taking more water. It’s always a great idea to set reminders that will remind you to drink more water. You can also get those bottles that have different hours of the day marked on them. That way, it will motivate you to drink your water once the time is what is on the bottle.
2.cleansing morning and evening is a must
I don’t know if it’s because I am so used to it already but I can’t start my day without cleansing my face and I can’t end it without doing the same. Once you see me washing my face in the night just know that it means I am officially done for the day and nothing will make me go out again (except if zayn Malik is outside my room).
Keeping your face clean all the time is a key step to achieving your dream skin. Get a mild daily cleanser of your choice and use it regularly. I am a very big fan of black soap so that is what I use most of the time. You can read my post about how I cleared my acne in one week using black soap here. Other days that I don’t feel like using it, I like to use the Cerave daily face wash. That product is a game-changer!
Last but not the least, never ever sleep with makeup. That is the worst thing you can do. If you’re too lazy to wash your face, At least use some facial wipes to clean the makeup off and then follow that up with some micellar water(my favorite is the Garnier skin-active micellar cleansing water)That should get the work done.
3.Always use sunscreen
It’s a whole new decade and you’re still not using sunscreen? You deserve some jail time ma’am. I cannot overemphasize how important sunscreen is. It protects your skin from the harmful UV radiation from the sun that causes serious skin damages. Here are a few things to keep in mind when it comes to sunscreens:
> Always get the ones with an SPF of 30 to 60 for maximum protection.
>You have to reapply it after 2 hours
>Even when it’s not sunny outside, still apply your sunscreen
>Don’t forget get your neck, please
>Although you have sunscreen on, try to avoid the sun as much as you can
4.change your pillowcase regularly
Change your pillowcase regularly. In fact, Change your entire bed sheet and pillow weekly. Don’t be a dirty person. If you keep sleeping on a dirty pillowcase, you will keep transferring the bacteria/dirt on your pillowcase back to your skin. You will, later on, start blaming your products that they are not working for you meanwhile it’s all your bad habit to be blamed. Break that bad habit today and change your pillowcase regularly.
5.Always check your products expiring date
This is a serious issue because a lot of us don’t check out the product expiry date. I have a whole post about why your skin isn’t perfect yet and it talks about this in-depth so just go and read that.
6.have a separate towel for your face only
Stop using the same towel for your body and face because the skin on your face is more delicate than the one your body and it’s more likely to get infected. Get soft face towels and use them only for your face and watch how much difference it will make. Don’t forget to clean them regularly too.
7.start eating healthy
What you take into your body will show on the outside so start eating healthy. Try to avoid junk foods, stop taking sodas or any carbonated drink ( I stopped this completely last year and it is still one of the best decisions I have made). Stop smoking and taking alcohol ( if you can or at least reduce the amount you consume). Start eating more fruits (what’s your favorite fruit by the way? I love bananas and mango), more vegetables and eat less oily food.
8.Always clean your makeup tools
If you use makeup regularly then you have to clean your brush regularly, at least weekly. When you use dirty brushes to apply your makeup, you are adding bacteria and dirt to your skin and that can lead to some serious breakout. Use clean brushes every time you want to apply makeup. That way, you’re sure your skin won’t be infected and makeup even looks a lot better when applied with clean brushes.
9.Have a skincare routine and stick to it
Having a skincare routine helps a lot. Ever since I started being consistent with my skincare routine, my skin has become a lot better and more radiant. If you have a problem creating one, I have an ultimate guide that will help you create one that will work for you. You can read that post here. If you want to know what my skincare routine looks like as a college student that has little time to spend on a skincare routine, then make sure you check this post out.
10.Always stay positive
Above all, make sure you love your skin the way it is. Sometimes our skin looks very nice and sometimes, it’s just very horrible. Learn to embrace it just the way it is. I am still battling with hyperpigmentation and I am sure you also have other skin problems that are bothering you. Don’t let your acne or your pimples steal your confidence and always remember that:
You’re beautiful and amazing just the way you are.
That is the end of this post. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did while writing it.

I was honestly reading this and nodding my head at each tip you shared because I couldn’t agree more!! I always cringe when people recommend only washing your face once a day (or not at all!!) – I have oily skin and wear makeup daily, so my skin would be mess without regular cleanses.
Also, its so true that pillowcases need to be changed regularly and that brushes need to be washed frequently, too. Wiping down my cellphone is another key habit that I take to keep my skin clear, too!!

Girllllll you can’t even imagine how irritated I get. How can you wash your face just once a day still expect your skin to be good? That’s impossible. Cleaning makeup tools can be a hard task to be very honest but because I am so used to it now, it’s more of a habit and I enjoy doing it. I hope you reach that level too haha. Thanks for reading

Love this! will have to try the tips for sure!
I never thought about the pillowcase thing! I wash my bedding every week but have a pillow/cushion that I wash less regular. Will have to start washing the case more!

Changing your pillow case is way more important in my opinion. I can sometimes leave my bed sheets for about 10 days if it’s a dark color but I always Change my pillow case on the 7th day! Start changing it more often and see how your skin will improve. Thanks for stopping by

For someone who has problems with her skin, I can completely agree with this. Although I agree, that doesn’t mean I follow these all the time when I really should, for example the drinking water point. I hardly drink any water so this probably plays a part in my breakouts. Thanks for sharing!

I agree on every point you wrote. I started a skin routine last year, stick to it and my skin looks much better, without that many outbreaks and if they do happen, they are gone much quicker. Those are amazing tips and so easy to follow as well.

I am so glad to hear that! Skincare products actually work when you put time and effort in making it work though it requires a lot of patience before you start seeing any significant results. I hope you keep it up! Thanks for reading

These are great tips! I didn’t start using daily sunscreen until recently and I really wish I had started in my early 20s.

Great tips!! Your reminder about staying hydrated has truly resonated with me. It’s remarkable how such a basic act like drinking water can have such a significant effect on our skin. Loved it!!

I see what you mean. It’s hard to follow directions, especially when it comes to drinking enough water. Staying hydrated is important for keeping your face healthy. Carry a water bottle with you or set an alarm every day to remember yourself to drink. These tips might make your face and health better. Also, skin care products like Klaycart, Fixderma, and others that dermatologists suggest can help with these problems. Thank you for your story!
