Have a mini-life audit
Checking in with yourself every now and then is so important to make sure you’re on track. One of the best places to start is by looking at your goals for the year. Have you achieved anything yet? Have you started working on them? It’s okay if some of those goals aren’t for you anymore. Remove them. Focus on the important ones and create a strategy for how you plan to accomplish them. Summer is the perfect time to get so many things done because the days are longer so make good use of that.
When it comes to getting my life together, I love using a life planner to do that. It allows you to organize every aspect of your life in one place. My favorite app to use for that is Notion. Notion is such a cool app that you can use to create plans, projects, habit trackers, itineraries, and literally everything you can think of. And the cool part? You can make it so aesthetic and cute. This is my current notion setup and this is the notion template I’m using. I have never felt so organized in my life before. I highly recommend you check it out.
Declutter your devices
Going through your phone and laptop and deleting unwanted files and documents can be such a hard task but trust me you will feel so much better when you do that. This will also free up a lot of space for you to capture great summer moments. Set aside time and do it.
Start with the phone that you use most often:
- delete unused apps
- declutter your social media + unfollow people + update social media profiles
- organize your playlists
- delete + unsubscribe from emails
- organize your photos and videos
- delete call logs
- delete tabs
- delete unwanted notes
- clear cache and history
- review + turn off notifications
- update apps
- move possible apps into folders
- organize app and folders
Once you’ve done that, you can do the same for your laptop and or iPad.
Clean out your closet
This is going to be a hard one especially when you find it difficult to let go of things but it’s so important. Our style tends to evolve over time and there are probably pieces you haven’t worn in months or even years thinking you will eventually do. Let them all go. First of all, bring out everything from your closet and deep clean it.
Start by separating all the clothes into the ones you want to keep for sure, the ones you’re not sure of, and the ones you’re going to let go of. Put the ones you’re sure you’re going to keep back into the closet while arranging them accordingly. For the rest, be completely honest with yourself and make a choice whether you want to keep them or donate. Did you also know that you can sell your clothes, and accessories on apps like Depop? That’s a great way to make some extra cash and you know the new owners will definitely wear them and benefit from them.
Deep clean your room
During the summer, I love to deep clean my room for a fresh season. Change your curtains, put on flowery bedding, clean your desk, and put up a new poster. It’s always so fun to give your room a mini makeover because it makes you feel better at the end of the day.
Create routines and stick to them
Having routines is such a productive thing to do and it saves you so much time. Create a healthy morning routine and night routine. Don’t make it complicated and be realistic. If you want to get consistent, make a habit tracker for it to make sure you’re doing it daily.
Take care of your skin.
I can’t stress this enough. This won’t be an ultimate summer glow up checklist without mentioning this. Start taking better care of your skin. Have a skincare routine. The most important thing is to know your skin type. If you have combination skin like me or oily skin, I have so many great posts to help you.
I am a huge fan of Korean skincare so I have so many amazing posts about the best Korean serums, cleansers, toners and so much more. Just browse the beauty category of this blog. You will learn a lot. Always wear your sunscreen. This is non-negotiable! Unless you want to get sunburns and make sure your hyperpigmentation is worse. My favorite sunscreens for the summer are :
- Beauty of Joseon relief sun
- SKIN 1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum and
- Isntree Hyaluronic Acid watery sun gel
Next is your body. Have a great shower routine, and make sure you’re shaving/waxing/trimming unwanted hair. Invest in good products especially deodorants and perfume because with this heat, the last thing you want is to be smelling really bad.
Schedule a dentist appointment
Your oral health is very important so try and see the dentist at least once this summer. Get your teeth cleaned professionally. You can get them whitened too if you want but I recommend you consult your dentist first. Apart from seeing the dentist, make sure you’re brushing your teeth at least twice daily. Get new a toothbrush, invest in a tongue scraper, and a good mouthwash.
Get your hair done
When was the last time you got your split ends trimmed? Go to the saloon and do that. Have a hair day where you do a hair mask, steam, deep condition your hair, and moisturize it properly. Your scalp deserves that.
Get your nails done
Getting your nails done will have you feeling more confident. Get a manicure and a pedicure. You can also do that at home but I personally prefer to get mine done at the spa. Paint your nails bright.
Work on your diet
I know during summer, we tend to eat a lot of junk because we are outside a lot but try and limit the amount of junk food you eat. Incorporate more fruits and vegetables into your meals for a boost of vitamins and antioxidants. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Limit processed foods, sugary snacks, and drinks to improve your overall health and skin appearance.
Start working out
I know this can be a difficult one but start moving your body. If you can’t go to the gym, try home workout. Exercise improves blood circulation, reduces stress, boosts energy levels, and promotes a healthy body and mind. It can also contribute to a radiant complexion. Summer is the perfect time to go for walks to take advantages of that. Go on hikes with your friends or cycling.
Learn something new
During summer we tend to have so much free time. Use that time wisely. If you have something you’ve always wanted to learn, make plans for it this summer. Try as many new hobbies as you can. Go for pottery classes, and baking classes, learn how to crochet, and finally start your youtube channel or blog. You probably have something you want to do but didn’t get the chance to, now is the perfect time for that. This will keep you creative and busy.
Create a summer bucket list
I think this is something that I have seen missing from almost all the glow-up videos, and glow-up challenges I have seen. Create a summer bucket list. Create new and fun memories. Summer is such an exciting time of the year and you never know if you will see another summer again. Make the effort to be present. Spend less time online.
