Do you know that you can bring the spa to your home? With the lockdown going on right now, a lot of us are looking so rough because we are so used to going to the beauty parlor to get pampered. But do not worry because I am about to show you what you need to do to have the best spa day at home. The fun part? All the things you need can be made at home (DIY).
Without any further delay, let’s get started.
Clean space

First, you will want to make sure your home/room/apartment is clean. This will help a lot in making you feel relaxed because, for me, I get stressed whenever my room is dirty.
Make sure you make your bed, wash your dishes, pick up any empty bottles, and take out the trash.
Prep + set the mood
I love to make my room feel like an actual spa. burning some bakhoor( it’s a type of Arabian perfume that is burnt on hot coal or an incense burner) is the first thing I do because I love the scent. It gives me a Morrocan/Arabian spa vibe.
If you don’t have bakhoor or you don’t like the scent, you can always use a diffuser. Get a diffuser of your choice, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil (vanilla and sandalwood are My absolute favorite) and you’re good to go. Make sure you light up a few candles because any spa will not be complete with lighted candles.
During my spa day, I will normally turn on the lights because the things I do require light so that I can see what I am doing properly so I normally save the candles for when I want to use the Jacuzzi only.
Do a manicure + pedicure
Cutting your nails and cleaning your feet is very important. I will personally recommend getting a mani-pedi at least every 2 weeks. If you don’t the money like me to go to the salon every 2 weeks to Get it done, here is how you can do it to yourself at home
Manicure
1.remove any nail polish
2.trim your nails with a nail cutter
3.file your nails and buff
4.soak your nails in warm water and salt
5.cut excess cuticles and apply moisturizer
6. Paint your nails if you want to.
Pedicure
1.repeat 1-3 from above on your toenails
2. Soak your feet in a bowl containing 1part vinegar,1 part Listerine,1 part warm water and some baking soda.
3.let them soak for 20 mins and then thoroughly file your sole.you will see all the dead skin cells come off.
4.exfoliate and rinse
5. Moisturize well
Note: this will never be as good as the one you will get in the saloon so whenever you have extra cash, go get a professional one.
Shave
Shaving is optional but I always make sure I shave. I always shave my legs, and armpits because I don’t like having hair in those places. If you prefer to wax, then you should do that as well and get rid of hair in places you don’t like having them.
Wash your hair
When I say wash your hair, I mean pamper your hair not that 5 minutes washing. Wash with your favorite shampoo, wash again with apple cider vinegar and baking soda to remove build-up to promote hair growth. Apply a hair mask and leave it for about 25 minutes and rinse well.
After doing the above, I love to rinse with rice water because I noticed my hair started getting longer when I started using rice water. If you want to know all about rice water and how to prepare it, then make sure you read this post. It is also amazing for the skin and I just love it.
Once you have done all that, moisturize it very well. I love to use castor oil, coconut oil, and Shea butter together on my hair when it’s still wet because it helps me to seal in that moisture and make my hair soft. Then I just braid it or twist it and put on my shower cap and proceed.
Take a nice hot shower and exfoliate.
Wash your body with your favorite shampoo and make sure you exfoliate properly. I love to use these homemade body scrubs because they get the job done.
Do your skincare routine
This is my favorite part of the whole spa day. I love doing my skincare routine. It’s therapeutic and I always enjoy it. Once you’re out of the shower, apply some super hydrating body cream, and wear some fresh clothes. I normally just wear clean pajamas because, by the time I am done, the day is already over. That’s why I love doing it on a Saturday. Spa day Saturday.
