In the past, online classes weren’t a thing. This is due to a lack of technological advancement and other beliefs. But now, especially due to the current pandemic happening all around the world, online classes are more popular than ever.
A lot of students are now taking online classes because so far, it’s the safest way to learn. My school unfortunately haven’t started offering online classes. Instead of wasting this entire year at home doing nothing, I decided to take up some online classes on Udemy. I am currently learning more about digital marketing and I am also taking some other fun classes.
Some of the other fun classes I am currently enrolled in requires my presence and it feels like I am in college because we have classes almost every single day that happens on zoom.
In this post, I will be sharing 7 tips on how you can easily Ace your online classes. This works for anyone offering fun online courses and even better for those who are having their college classes, online.
Tips for Online classes
Table of Contents
Always show up for them
Showing up for your online classes is very important. Don’t let all those funny videos of people sleeping during their online classes deceive you. Show up for them just like you would if they were face to face classes. You need to discipline yourself and always remember that you’re paying a huge sum of money for this. Make it worth it. The best way to keep track of everything is to have a schedule. I love to write down everything in my planner and this helps me to know when my online classes will be so that I can get ready for them. Planning will change your life.
Treat it like your everyday classes
Just because they are online doesn’t mean they are less important. Treat them the same way you treat your face to face classes. Keep that same energy. Always show up on time, look presentable, and always pay attention. Ask questions whenever something is not clear and make sure you take notes. Don’t just stare at your teachers and your fellow coursemates. Write down important key points. Those will help you out later when you’re studying.
Set goals for yourself
Set goals at the beginning of the semester and track them. What would like to achieve this semester? Do you want to improve your GPA? Well, write down all you need to do to achieve that and monitor your progress weekly. This will help you to hold yourself accountable. Setting goals is like challenging your brain and your brain loves that because it will make you want to crush them as soon and as good as you can.
Have a study time
Having a study time will allow you to revise all that you’ve learned so far and practiced some exercise. Don’t go a day without revising. What I love to do is to go through all what I learned that day during my classes and then practice them before I go to bed. I noticed that when I do that, I don’t forget easily and it sticks better to my head. Figure out the best time for you to study and utilize it well. I study best in the morning so every single morning after I wake up and pray, I try to read something. It helps a lot. Talking about studying, let’s talk about another important tip.
Join a virtual study group
I cannot overemphasize the importance of having a study group. If you had a study group in college when you used to attend physical classes, organize one virtually now.
Having a great study group does wonder for your learning. Sometimes some classes are just complicated but when you guys study in groups, you will find out that you can all learn from one another. There is this guy I’m in the same study group with that explains better than most of our lecturers. Every time he explains something to me, I feel like I am learning the alphabet because of how he breaks it down and makes it fun. Having a study group is worth it because you all are after good grades and you will continue to encourage one another. I mentioned this when I talked about 10 things I wished I knew before going to college. Another thing to know is that the smaller they are, the better.
Eliminate distractions
You’re bound to face so many distractions when you’re using your laptop to study. What you need to do is to get rid of them. The best way to do so is by having the right chrome extensions that will help you to block notifications, monitor your productivity, and so much more.
Plan everything out
Planning how you want your daily activities to go is one step to achieveing your academic goals. Make sure you have nothing to do when it’s time for your online classes, plan out what time of the day you want to be studying and doing your assignments, plan out when you want to have your virtual study sessions. Like I said, planning is important and it will make your life so much easier and organized.
Conclusion
Online classes can be difficult at first but you have to always remember why you’re taking them in the first place. It’s time to boss up. Study hard and get that degree.
