Trendy Sneakers for College Students
Table of Contents
When I spoke about the only things you have to pack for college, I mentioned how packing for college really varies for different people. Not only does everyone have an individual fashion sense, but the weather where you study will determine if you should pack warm outerwear or keep things light. Undoubtedly, however, sneakers will be a staple piece for college students in 2022. After a lockdown in sweatpants and slippers, going on campus means wearing the trendiest footwear this season.
Among Gen Zs, casual comfort will reign — but retro styles and older silhouettes are going to make a comeback. A lot of people are taking inspiration from the 90s and 00s styles, so expect to see interesting sneakers among your classmates. Here are four trendy kicks I’d love to recommend:
Adidas Edge Lux 4
The Edge Lux 4 by Adidas is extremely comfortable for walking around a huge school. Thanks to the cushioned midsoles made with the brand’s Bounce technology, your feet won’t strain as you move from place to place. Designed for female runners, the Edge Lux 4 features an interesting design and breathable, lightweight materials so you can easily race through short distances up to five kilometers.
This model comes in different colorways such as black, silver, and prime blue. However, we particularly like the Adidas Edge Lux 4 model worn by Jennifer Lopez on her way to the gym. The sleek white, paired with metallic lilac leggings, manages to make activewear look exciting. Throw in a (reusable) cup of coffee, and you’ve got a pretty solid look for an on-the-go campus experience.
Nike SB Dunk Low “Green Apple”
While going back to school means summer is over, your wardrobe can still be bright and refreshing. These upcoming Nike SB Dunk Low “Green Apple” sneakers are part of Nike SB’s “Fruity Pack” collection. The shoes feature a white leather base with a light green suede on the overlays and a darker green suede on the swoosh. The crisp, two-toned green colorway is very eye-catching, and a peek at the inner tongue will show you fun, animated fruit figures which appear on every shoe in the collection.
Although it may seem a bit too loud for some, and you might not wear it as frequently, it’s important to find a pair of sneakers that give you a sense of joy and can start up a conversation with someone. Paired with a simple tee and jeans, the Nike SB Dunk Low in “Green Apple” will keep you looking cool all year long.
Jordan Why Not .5
If you’re more of an athletic person, then Russell Westbrook’s most recent collaboration with the Jordan brand will definitely excite you. Following the success of the Why Not Zer0.4 model, the newly-released Why Not .5 signature shoe offers a webbing fit system with lockdown midfoot bands and multi-directional traction on the sole — which can keep your moves smooth as you play.
Plus, the Why Not .5 has some pretty unique colorways inspired by Westbrook’s life. Our favorite is probably “Inner City”, which honors his LA roots in tan, red, yellow, ginger, and seafoam blue. This pair of sneakers is guaranteed to brighten up your athletic endeavors in college, and they would still look stylish off-court.
Converse Chuck 70
Last but not least are the canvas, high-top sneakers known as the Converse Chuck 70. This classic footwear model is unlikely to ever go out of style. Since its introduction in 1917, Chucks continually find their iconic status in popular culture. Case in point, Chuck 70 Converse kicks are the shoe-of-choice for Zendaya’s character Rue on HBO’s Euphoria, which she pairs with vintage pieces.
The Chuck 70 version is probably the best the brand has to offer at the moment, combining the look that everyone recognizes with much more comfort than the standard Chucks. You can easily match the black or cream colorways with almost anything in your wardrobe, and they’re great for everyday wear.
Which of these trendy sneakers for college students would you like to own? let me in the comments.
