We have a new Korean skincare brand in the building! 

MIMU MIMU is a Korean skincare brand launched in 2024 which the Maltese Cross inspired—a pattern seen in healthy skin under cross-polarized light—MIMU MIMU aims to help users achieve this pattern through their skincare routines. The brand’s name, 미므미므 (MIMU MIMU), is derived from the Korean letter ‘ㅁ,’ resembling the Maltese Cross. Committed to promoting healthy, radiant skin, MIMU MIMU is poised to revolutionize skincare with its innovative third-generation products that feature advanced formulas and enhanced user experiences.

MIMU MIMU was kind enough to send me their Heating Calming i.n.g Cleansing Oil and Cooling Calming i.n.g Toner to try in exchange for a review and after using both products for almost 2 weeks, I’m ready to share my thoughts with you! Let’s get into it.

MIMU MIMU Heating Calming i.n.g Cleansing Oil

This cleansing oil is meant to serve as the first step when double cleansing, especially at night.

Packaging and scent

It comes in a 200ml light blue, semi-transparent bottle with a white pump dispenser and a plastic stopper cover to prevent accidental leakage. The bottle features a Maltese Cross pattern in blue and white on a peelable transparent label, making it easy to recycle. It’s also unscented which I love.

Ingredients

The cleansing oil contains 45 ingredients with its key ingredients being Onsen-sui (thermal water), Centella Asiatica, and 10X Hyaluronic acid.

• Centella Asiatica Extract: Enhances skin recovery and reinforces the skin barrier.
• Hyaluronic Acid Complex: Delivers deep hydration across multiple skin layers.
• Onsen-Sui (Thermal Water): Soothes and calms the skin, making it perfect for sensitive skin.

 

My honest thoughts

I enjoyed using this cleansing oil. I think I should include it in my best Korean cleansing oils posts.

It’s thicker than regular cleansing oils and the coolest part is it heats up when you rub it. As soon as I apply the MIMU MIMU Heating Calming i.n.g Cleansing Oil, I feel a gentle warming sensation, designed to mimic the soothing effect of a steam towel used in spa and salon facial treatments. While I believe the heat isn’t enough to open up your pores like a regular steamer or steam towel, I enjoyed the therapeutic and relaxing sensation you get when using this.

It does a good job of removing makeup and sunscreen at the end of the day. I use 2 pumps and gently massage it all over my face before adding a little water to emulsify it and finally rinse it off. Another thing to note that is the cleansing oil has a dual-layer formula so make sure you shake it well before using it and apply it to dry skin to activate the warming effect.

It doesn’t leave any greasy residue behind and my skin feels soft after use without drying it out. It’s free of harsh alcohols, parabens, silicones, and sulfates making it great even for those with sensitive skin.

I enjoy using this cleansing oil and if you haven’t tried any with a warming effect, you should give it a chance!

Cooling Calming i.n.g Toner

Packaging and scent

It comes In a 260ml light blue, semi-transparent bottle featuring a Maltese Cross pattern in blue and white on a peelable transparent label for easy recycling. It’s also unscented just like the cleansing oil.

Ingredients

The toner contains 32 ingredients with its key ingredients being Centella Asiatica, Panthenol, Allantoin, Jeju lava seawater, Ceramide NP & Tocopherol, and Albatrellus Confluens (Mushroom) Extract.

• Jeju Lava Seawater: Mineral-rich and deeply nourishing for the skin.
• Ceramide NP & Tocopherol: Fortify the skin barrier and protect against environmental damage.
• Albatrellus confluens (Mushroom) Extract: Provides cooling effects, reduces skin temperature, and soothes irritation.

 

My honest thoughts

This toner is lightweight and fast-absorbing. I normally apply three layers (which they also recommended) and those layers get absorbed easily and don’t leave any sticky residue. I can see myself using this a lot during the hotter days. It’s also quite hydrating but I don’t think it is hydrating enough to be used during winter.

While it’s not hydrating enough for me, I can still see myself reaching out for it because of the cooling effects. It’s packed with so many great ingredients such as Centella Asiatica and panthenol which are known for their cooling and calming effects. On days when your skin feels irritated, this would be the perfect toner to use. I also really appreciate how the toner doesn’t have any noticeable scents so if you also love fragrance-free skincare products like I do, you will love this toner. Seriously though, why should our skincare products have any scent/fragrance?

It’s free of harsh alcohols, common allergens, fragrances, oils, parabens, silicones, and sulfates which makes it great for even those with sensitive skin.
