Table of Contents
Balancing studies and a part-time job as a student can be incredibly challenging and overwhelming. That’s why I always recommend finding ways to make money online. There’s nothing worse than being a broke student, and fortunately, there are numerous legitimate ways to earn money online. You can earn hundreds or even thousands of dollars each month depending on how much effort you put in. If I can do it, so can you!
Let’s dive into how to make money online as a student.
Start an Etsy Shop Selling Digital Downloads
Starting an Etsy shop was one of the best decisions I ever made. Since launching, I’ve made over 1,000 sales and earn an average of $150 to $300 per month. While it might not seem like a lot, it’s excellent for passive income. Create digital products like planners, worksheets, and checklists, upload them to Etsy, and promote your shop. Freelancing
If you have a skill you’re good at, such as writing, graphic design, or copywriting, you should monetize it. Sign up on platforms like Fiverr or Upwork, or set up your website. I offer writing services and Pinterest account audits, which bring in a good amount of money from time to time.
Online Tutoring
Online tutoring is a fantastic way to make money if you excel in a particular subject. Platforms like Chegg Tutors and Tutor.com are great places to get started. You can also teach a language you’re fluent in. This is a rewarding way to share your knowledge and earn money simultaneously.
Online Surveys
Participating in online surveys is a simple way to make extra cash. Websites like Swagbucks, Survey Junkie, and Vindale Research pay you for your opinions on various products and services.
Content Creation
The influencer industry is one of the fastest-growing industries globally and now is the perfect time to get started. Create content around something you’re passionate about and upload it to your social media accounts. You can start working with brands, selling your products, or offering different services with consistency and dedication. Follow me on Instagram and TikTok for more visual content.
Start a Blog
Starting this blog and sticking with it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It has opened many doors for me, and I’ve made a significant amount of money from it. If you love writing and sharing your experiences, consider starting a blog. It’s also an excellent way to build your personal brand and carve out your own corner on the internet. If you prefer creating videos, consider starting a YouTube channel.

Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is another great way to make passive income, although it takes time to build up. This involves promoting products or services you love, and earning a commission when someone purchases through your link. The Amazon Associates program is an easy way to get started, as almost everyone shops on Amazon. Affiliate marketing is more effective when you have an established audience, so I recommend building your blog or social media accounts before diving into affiliate marketing.
Final Thoughts on How to Make Money Online as a Student
While all these methods are enticing, I advise focusing on just one. Your studies should always be your number one priority, and anything that might make you lose focus shouldn’t be prioritized.
