Going out without makeup is my favorite thing to do now. Why? Because my face looks so amazing without it.
I don’t have any discoloration or blemishes or any acne scars. Every single place I go to, people are always complimenting my skin and asking me what my skincare routine was.
The truth is that my skin hasn’t always looked amazing.
2 years ago, I suffered from terrible hyperpigmentation and break out due to puberty, I guess. I was able to treat my pimples after trying out different creams and jumping from one dermatologist to another to even trying out all those remedies from Indian Youtubers.
unfortunately for me, the pimples left dark spots all over my face which made things worst.
I had to go back and start looking for a solution to this problem but all was in vain. nothing worked for me.
on one blessed summer holiday, we went to the village to visit my grandma and other relatives.
when my grandma saw the condition of my face, she asked me why I wasn’t treating it so I had to explain to her how I have tried everything that came my way but nothing worked.
she just stood up and went and brought something for me in a small container. it was black in color and was very soft. she told me to use it and be washing my face with it.
At first, I thought it won’t work because it looked very local and I have tried a lot of expensive products but I was shocked when I noticed the spots were getting lighter after just 3 days! not only that, my skin, in general, was transforming. it looked smoother, it was softer and it was starting to glow.
so I went back to her and asked her what this magic soap was, she told me it was called the African black soap. since then my life hasn’t been the same anymore.
That picture above was my before and after. can you see the huge difference in my skin?
My eyebrows look so full. Incase you’re wondering how I got them to be thick like this, I wrote all about it and how I was able to grow them out in just 3 days! You can read it here to find out what I used.
African black soap originated from West African(i am from Nigeria and we make that a lot in different part of the country so that’s probably why my grandma knows about it).
Benefits of using the black soap
•it cleanses the skin
•it’s a very good exfoliator
•evens out skin tone
•reduces fine line and wrinkles
• minimizes scars and dark spots
•it fights acne and eczema
•and its suitable for all skin types
if you are not using black soap yet, I highly recommend you start. you will see a massive difference in just a week.
Top 3 Black soap
Since it’s becoming very popular, many companies are now making it but sadly, not all of them are good. so for that reason, I will be sharing my top 3 black soaps from branded companies. these are almost or just as good as the ones made locally.
Dudu Osun:
This will forever be one of my ride or die. When black soap became popular, Dudu Osun was the one that most people here in Nigeria knew and always used.
It lathers very well but dissolves very quick. It slowly exfoliates the skin but can be harsh on sensitive skin. Great news! It’s now available at Walmart. Shop it here.
Shea moisture African black soap w/shea butter:
This is also another amazing bar. It’s more gentle on the skin and smells really nice. It’s also affordable and available at Walmart and Ulta.
100% organic African black soap:
This is another awesome one. It’s 100% organic so it’s very very good as it won’t have any chemicals in it. It comes in big chunks and it is quite soft. Shop it from Walmart here.
Earn your cash back with Ebates
Ebates is such an amazing site where you can earn your cash back while you shop from famous stores such as Walmart, Amazon, eBay, Macy, kohls etc. check it out here.
Discovering black soap was one of the best things that have happened to me. I hope it remains awesome so that we will tell our children about it and the future generations, just the same way my grandma introduced it to me.
Do you use black soap?
Are you planning on purchasing one?

I totally agree with this! Although the black soap I use is Moroccan, it works the magic as well! In just 3 days, my skin was already starting to glow. Now it looks and feels smoother! I can’t even walk by a mirror without looking LOL!
