Habits to start
Table of Contents
If you’re looking to start new habits this year, I have a lot of good and easy ones to try. Habits are so important because they can make or break you. In this post, I will share why having habits is important, a list of 100 habits you can start across different areas of your life, and a few tips on how to stay consistent with your habits.
The importance of having Habits
Habits are essential because they shape our daily actions, making it easier to stay consistent and achieve long-term goals without relying solely on motivation. They improve efficiency by reducing decision fatigue, as repeated behaviors become automatic, freeing up mental energy for more important tasks. Nothing feels better than waking up each morning and knowing exactly what to do. It helps to reduce procrastination so much.
Good habits contribute to overall well-being, whether through better health, productivity, or personal growth. They also create structure and stability, helping you stay focused and disciplined.
By building positive habits, you set yourself up for success in different areas of life, from career and relationships to self-improvement and financial stability. Through my writing habit, I’ve been able to maintain this blog you’re reading so you can see why it’s important.

Tips on how to stay consistent with your habits
It can be so hard to stay consistent but if you follow these tips, you will be:
- Start Small – Focus on one habit at a time and make it manageable. For example, if you want to read daily, start with just five minutes.
- Set Clear Goals – Be specific about what you want to achieve. Instead of saying, “I’ll exercise more,” say, “I’ll walk for 20 minutes every morning.”
- Use Habit Stacking – Attach new habits to existing ones. For example, after brushing your teeth, drink a glass of water.
- Track Your Progress – Use a habit tracker, journal, or an app to monitor your consistency and stay motivated. If you have the glow and grow planner, there is a daily habit tracker in there 🙂
- Remove Obstacles – Make it easier to follow through by preparing in advance. If you want to work out, lay out your gym clothes the night before.
- Stay Accountable – Share your goals with a friend, join a community, or use reminders to keep yourself on track.
- Be Flexible & Forgiving – If you miss a day, don’t quit. Get back on track as soon as possible instead of waiting for the “perfect” time to restart.
- Reward Yourself – Celebrate small wins to reinforce your habit. This could be as simple as acknowledging your progress or treating yourself after a streak.
