To be very honest with you, I was never a fan of sunscreen. As a black girl, finding a sunscreen that doesn’t irritate my skin, is affordable, and most importantly doesn’t leave a white cast was such a task.
After learning more and more about skincare and how important sunscreens are for your skin and body, I decided to give it another try. I have tried so many great sunscreens afterward like the Neutrogena hydro boost sunscreen, and the super goop sunscreen but the Cosrx aloe soothing sun cream was the first Korean sunscreen I ever tried.
At first, I didn’t really get what the hype around Korean skincare products was but once I tried some products for myself like the COSRX snail mucin Essence and the Tiam vita b3, I totally got it.
In this post, I will be reviewing the Cosrx aloe soothing sun cream and give you my honest opinion after using it for a while. So let’s get into it.
Cosrx sunscreen review
The Cosrx aloe soothing sun cream protects the skin from again UVA and UVB rays with SPF 50 pa+++ from a combination of physical and chemical sunscreens. It soothes and moisturizes the skin due to the 55000ppm of aloe Vera leaf extract.
If you’re just starting out with sunscreens, this is a great one to start.

How to use
Just like any sunscreen, make sure you’re using a teaspoon of sunscreen for your face, neck, and ears. This is equivalent to 3 fingers.
Sunscreen is the last step in my skincare routine and on days when I feel like wearing makeup, I start my makeup after applying my sunscreen.
Make sure you apply the sunscreen 3-5 minutes before going out and reapply every 2-3 hours, especially in the afternoon when the UV light is strong.
My opinions on the Cosrx aloe soothing sun cream
packaging
One thing about Korean skincare products packaging, they are very minimal and I really like it. The sunscreen comes in a 50ml plastic white tube with a black cap. All you have to do is squeeze it to dispense your sunscreen and you can cut it open to get every bit of product inside.
Texture and scent
It has a light scent when you first apply it but disappears immediately after. Surprisingly, I love the scent. It doesn’t smell like alcohol and the scent is not overpowering. I just can’t explain the scent but it smells like a moisturizer. You can scent the hydration if that makes sense.
I love the texture of this sunscreen. It’s thick, creamy, and blends like a dream. I was scared at first when I saw that the sunscreen was white in color (like a paint) but after blending, I had zero white casts. It was also very easy to blend by the way. A lot of people experienced pilling with this sunscreen but I didn’t.
It feels lightweight on the skin but very hydrating. If you have dry skin, this will be the perfect sunscreen for you. I have oily combination skin but I really like how it feels on my skin. Sadly, it doesn’t have a matte finish so you might need to blot off the excess oil. I just use some setting powder to get rid of the excess oil.
I started using this sunscreen during spring and now it’s summer and I can’t wait for winter. I feel like this will be the perfect sunscreen on days when the weather feels so dry because of how hydrating it is. I will keep you updated on that.
Final thoughts on the Cosrx aloe soothing sun cream
I really like this sunscreen and how it works well with my other skincare products. So far, I haven’t had irritation around my eyes, white cast, or piling.
If you’re wondering if I will repurchase this, I already have an extra tube waiting for me but I will save that for the cold days.
