My skincare routine as a college student
Table of Contents
Your skincare routine can only work if you’re consistent with it. As a final-year chemistry student, my skincare routine is the last thing I will want to be complex and time-consuming. Every minute is very important.
In this post, I will be sharing my simple morning and night skincare routine. This is the minimum I do every day to keep my skin healthy and glowing. Consider this as a skin care routine for college students as well 🙂
When it comes to creating a skincare routine that will work for you, knowing your skin type and choosing the right skincare products for it goes a long way. I have a lot of posts about skincare so feel free to read a bunch to learn from me.
Without any more delay, let’s get into it.

Cleanser (Day & Night)
This is one of the most essential steps in my routine. I always make sure my face is clean before I proceed.
In the morning, I love using a mild gel cleanser. I am currently loving the COSRX good morning low ph gel cleanser. It really cleanses my skin without overdrying it.
I got the smaller size because I tend to get tired of using the same products for a long period. It also allows me to try new products because they finish quickly. I hope I’m not the only one that does that.
In the evening after a long day, I always double cleanse with a cleansing balm first and then go in with a foaming cleanser. The Cerave foaming cleanser really gets the job done here.
Toner (Day & Night)
Toners are completely optional but I love using one. I am currently loving the good molecules brightening niacinamide toner and the COSRX BHA power blackhead liquid.
The good molecules toner is what I use in the morning daily and the COSRX toner is only 2-3 times a week. It’s a chemical exfoliant so using it daily isn’t ideal.
If you suffer from blackheads on your nose, this toner is a life saver. I literally saw a difference after using it 3 times! It’s really good and very affordable and a little goes a long way.
I used to use a cotton pad to apply my toner but now, I do that with my hands. I dispense a little on my palm and gently dab it all over my face and neck. This method has saved me so much product and cotton pads are not really safe for the environment. If you love using them, try the reusable cotton rounds. They are still as good!
Serums (Day & Night)
I love serums and essence. I can’t believe I just started using them. Serums are what does the magic for mee. They really helped me with my acne, hyperpigmentation, etc. I have used a lot in the past but here are the ones I am using currently:
COSRX snail mucin power essence: I’m one of them if this product has a million fans. If she has one fan, it’s me. If she has zero fans, then I’m dead. The cosrx snail mucin essence is something I didn’t know my skin needed till I started using it.
It literally fixed my skin barrier, helped a lot with my acne and dark spots, and made my face so smooth. I absolutely love this product and use it during the day and at night.
If you want a glass skin, just use this together with a great hyaluronic acid like the one from good molecules. Chef kiss!
Tiam vita b3 source: it contains 10% niacinamide and 2% alpha arbutin. This has been so helpful when it comes to dark spots and hyperpigmentation. I have been using it for about a month now and the results are really promising. I use this only at night because of the niacinamide toner I use during the day. Too much niacinamide can cause purging and you don’t want that.
Good Molecules discoloration correcting serum: this is also another holy grail serum. Just like the name implies, it corrects any discoloration you have for an even toned skin. It’s very affordable and I also use it at night only. I alternate between this and the Tiam vita b3 source.
Eye cream (Night only)
It was only recently that I started using eye cream and that was a game-changer for me. Just a few weeks into use, I could clearly see a difference under my eyes. My eye bags reduced and my dark circles started fading. Although this DIY dark circles remover helped a lot with my dark circles, a combination of that with my eye cream made the entire process way faster.
I use an eye cream at night only and the heimish marine eye cream is soo good. If you love thick moisturizing eye creams as I do, you will certainly love this one. I always wake up with well-hydrated bright eyes. I got it as a gift after purchasing a lot of Korean skincare products from style Korean and I have been obsessed.
Moisturizer (Day & Night)
Make sure you keep your skin moisturized always. I love trying out so many moisturizers but my favorite so far is the Neutrogena hydro boost moisturizer and the COSRX oil-free moisturizing lotion. Those two will leave your skin feeling very plump and soft with their non-greasy formulas.
sunscreen ( Day only)
This is very important. Never neglect your sunscreen for any reason. Even when it doesn’t feel sunny at all, make sure you wear your sunscreen all the time before going out. This is normally the last thing I do in my morning skincare routine. It helps to protect your skin from harmful UV rays emitted by the sun. Korean sunscreens are the next big thing and I am here for it! The sunscreen I am currently using is the COSRX aloe soothing sun cream. I love it so much that I wrote a dedicated review for it.
That is pretty much all I do in my morning and night skincare routine.
Extra things I do not frequently
Every once or twice a week, I love to apply face masks. It’s a great way to get all that toxic stuff out of your face. Sheet masks are very essential, especially on days when I feel like my skin is very rough and dehydrated. Don’t forget to scrub your lips every day and use a hydrating lip balm afterward.
If you have some coins to spare, I recommend getting facials At least once a month or once every two months. Your skin condition will improve drastically significantly if you’re suffering from acne, pimples, or a lot of blackheads and whiteheads like me.
I will also like to advise you to make sure you know the esthetician you’re going to. Always check the spa out online and read the reviews. Ask your friends and family for recommendations. You don’t want anyone making things worst for you.

Wow – I’m so impressed by your skincare routine. I was not as kind to my skin when I was in college – it wasn’t until my senior year that I really started to pay attention to developing a good routine.
My routine, both morning and night, is super similar to yours. The only difference is that I apply a serum after toner/before moisturizer (morning/night), and at night I add Marula oil as a final step to lock everything in.
I’ve never tried black soap, but now I’m super curious. So I’ll be checking that out for sure!

I just discovered the magic of toner, and it is a GAME CHANGER! I’m so glad you mention it here! I tend to have super dry skin, so I have to pack on the moisturizer like crazy. But the toner has helped balance my skin a little, and it’s producing a little more oil on it’s own. I also try to do face masks as much as possible. Your skin care routine is excellent! I wish I had started taking better care of my skin earlier.
