Whether you are trying to glow up during quarantine or get your body ready for summer, I believe everyone should have a major glow up this year.
Having a glow-up doesn’t mean you need to spend hundreds of dollars on spa treatments or minor surgery. You can get those if you want to and have the money but a glow-up can easily happen if you make some changes in your lifestyle and I’m going to show you how.
In this post, I’m going to show you how to glow up from head to toe. I just want you to know that if you really want to get the results you hope for, you need to stay consistent. Consistency is key. Take care of your hair
I’m not the best when it comes to taking good care of my hair but when I started paying more attention to it, my hair started flourishing. Here are some ways you can take better care of it.
-
Wash your hair At least once every week
-
Try some hair masks: there are different types of hair masks depending on your needs. I have been struggling with dry hair so I got the shea moisture Jamaican black castor oil leave-in conditioner and it has been great so far. You can also try some natural hair masks. If you need help with that, YouTube is your best friend. The options there are limitless.
-
Try some natural remedies: my hair has been loving the rice water treatment and aloe Vera for detangling. Look up some natural remedies online or ask for suggestions.

Have a skincare routine
if you don’t have a skincare routine by now, we need to do something about it. All the people you see with clear glowing skin weren’t born with it. They made it happen.
Having a great skincare routine will help you to get rid of any acne, hyperpigmentation, dark circles, or imperfections you might have.
If you don’t have a skincare routine yet but will love to have one, here is how to make one for yourself. If you already have one but you’re looking for some recommendations, make sure you check out this post about the 10 skincare products for your oily skin.
Also, remember that having a skincare routine is just 1/3 of the job. Staying very consistent and monitoring what’s working for you is the rest. I have created the perfect skincare tracker for anyone struggling with remaining consistent. It has only the things you will need and is very affordable. Check it out here.

Up your water intake
It is so important to stay hydrated. Drinking water has so many benefits. For example, it keeps your skin looking plump, fresher, and prettier. It also flushes out all the toxins in your system making you feel better and also look better.
If you struggle with drinking water, try to add some fresh fruits into your water and allowing it to infuse. It makes the water have a nice fruity taste which makes it a lot better than drinking plain water.
Having a water bottle with you all the time really helps also. Try getting those that have marks on them for motivation and watch how your intake grows.

Start working out
Working out is not that fun. I know that because I work out and I know how it feels. But the results from working out, are worth all the sweat and soreness. Working out is an essential part of how to glow up. You need to start shaking your body up. We all want to have a smaller waist, slimmer face, and toned legs. Working out is what will get you those results you want, not just wishing. Working out 3-5 days a week is ideal. You don’t need to commit the whole day to just working out. 15-30 minutes each day is more than enough as a starter.
I don’t go to the gym because I don’t like being there and with the pandemic, a lot of gyms are closed. There are a lot of YouTube channels for home workouts that are great for anyone. My top 2 favorite channels are Koboko fitness and Chloe ting. You can also sign up for home workout challenges which are great too if you want to be even more serious.

Start eating more fruits and veggies
We have all heard about the good sides of eating more fruits and vegetables but did you know that you can lose a few pounds just by eating them? You don’t want to miss out on this great deal! Start incorporating more fruits and vegetables into your life by:
-
Having some salad as a side during every meal
-
Taking fruit smoothies every morning ( they are soo yummy and perfect for breakfast )
-
Substituting sodas with fresh juices
-
Take care of your body and other parts
The rest of your body also deserves some love just like your face. Make sure you shower every day, exfoliate 2-3 times a week, shave when necessary, and use good body products.
Brush your teeth twice every day, try out whitening strips/paste and visit your dentist regularly.
Get a manicure and pedicure, go get some professional waxing done and make sure you always smell good.
-
Get organized
I can’t overemphasize this. You need to stop waking up every day without a plan. It’s okay to sometimes have a lazy day but that shouldn’t be every day.
Use a daily planner to write down all your to-do lists for the day, a weekly and monthly planner to plan out your weeks and months in advance. Set goals for yourself and work on them. you should basically organize your entire life if possible. You can also get just the daily, and weekly planner here.

Declutter and clean your space
What’s the point of looking so good if your space doesn’t match that energy? I don’t know about you but I can’t think straight when I’m in a dirty environment. Declutter your closet and donate anything you no longer want that is still in good condition. If they are worn out, just toss them out. Always make your bed every day and do your dishes. Wash your bathroom more often and sweep/vacuum regularly.

Learn something new
Learning is part of the mental glow-up. You need to stop binge-watching Netflix every single day. It’s not healthy. Use that time to learn something new. There are so many hobbies you can try and some can even make you money. I am a full-time student and I run this blog and an Etsy shop, alone. Stop saying you don’t have time, you’re just not managing it well. Here are some time management tips that can help you.

Be happy
This is the biggest glow-up. Nothing can ever beat the glow on your face when you’re happy and in a good mood. Always do what makes you happy, if it’s legal of course.
One of the main things tampering with our happiness these days is social media. There is a lot of comparisons going on there and sometimes, we have no option but to wish we were like them or even feel jealous and insecure. You don’t know what’s going on in their lives behind those happy posts so never compare yourself with anyone. You’re unique and that’s why God made only one of you. Stop trying to be a copy when you’re an original.
Once you start feeling overwhelmed, have a social media detox. Go weeks or even months without social media. If there is a particular account that triggers you, block that account or unfollow that person. It’s really that simple. Self-care is not selfish and you must guard your mental health no matter what.
How to Glow up checklist
I really want you to get serious about your glow up challenge so I made this cute how to glow up checklist for you. Save this image to your phone or print it if necessary and let that be your motivation.
That brings us to the end. I would like to quickly mention that this is not some set of rules you have to always follow. You’re allowed to add yours or remove what you feel like it’s not necessary. You can make it a seasonal glow up challenge. It’s all up to you.
Let me know in the comments what you really enjoyed the most about this post and plan on start doing every soon.
