Your morning routine can make you or break you. Have a productive healthy morning routine can help you to win the day and get so much done.
You have probably watched or tried to follow your favorite YouTubers’ productive 5 am morning routine but ended up failing after a few days. Why? Because a lot of them are not really realistic if we’re going, to be honest here. Well, some of them actually follow that morning routine but you should keep in mind that they must’ve been trying and tweaking it for months before they finally mastered it.
If you’re just starting and you’re ready to get your life together ( yay, I’m so excited for you!), then I highly recommend you start small. Your morning routine doesn’t have to be 15 tasks long. It can be just 5-8.
In this post, I am going to be sharing with you the simplest healthy morning routine that will make you and keep you productive.
Without any further delay, let’s get into it
Healthy morning routine ( Realistic )
Table of Contents
1. Wake up early
No, you don’t need to wake up by 4 am. Be gentle with yourself. But don’t sleep till the sun is out. I normally wake up by 5:30 am. Waking up early means you have more hours in a day to achieve your goals and get so much done. Since I need to be in class by 8 am latest, 5:30 am means I have 2 and a half hours to get a few things done before heading out.
2. Arrange your room/ Make your bed
Cleaning your space first thing in the morning is so refreshing. Just by doing this one task, you will feel like you have your life on track. Clean your room and make your bed so that at the end of a long tiring day, you can always come back to a clean room.
3.Pray/ Meditate
As a Muslim, I don’t joke with my prayers and we’re not supposed to. Talking to God first thing in the morning is the best thing you can do for yourself. Ask him to help you, guide you and protect you throughout the day.
If prayer is not your thing, meditation is great! There are tons of helpful videos on YouTube on how to meditate if you need some help with that. One of my favorite quotes of all time says
Put God first and you will never be last
This is soo freaking true and you honestly have to try it to know what I’m talking about.
4. Eat breakfast
What’s a healthy morning routine without breakfast? I’m not really a breakfast person but since I read about how breakfast is the most important meal of the day and what happens when you don’t eat it, I started to.
My go-to breakfast ideas are pancakes, noodles (Indomie to be precise), bread and eggs, and smoothies bowls ( my current fave).
5.Workout
Summer is fast approaching and you don’t want to be looking like a potato right? If you can’t commit to going to the gym like me, try at-home workouts. Surprisingly, they are pretty good. Recently, I saw this skipping rope challenge all over YouTube and TikTok and I really want to try it out but I don’t have a skipping rope yet.
If you’ve tried it already, let me know in the comments section if it actually works. I will keep you updated on Instagram once I get my skipping rope and start.
6.Shower
After working out, you’re now all sweaty and all you need is a shower. I love showers. I shower At least twice a day and during hot summer days, I shower 3-4 times a day. It’s important to cleanse to avoid body odor. I have a post coming up soon about my favorite body care products so if that’s something you’re interested in seeing, then make sure you come back from time to time and also follow me on Pinterest to stay updated.
7. Do the most important tasks first.
The first thing I always do is to write down my morning routine list (tasks) in my daily planner and then do them according to their priorities. Writing out your tasks helps you to remember what you’re meant to do and when you’re supposed to do it.
I have some amazing affordable printable planners in my Etsy shop but so far, a lot of my readers have been loving the new productivity planner and there are so many reasons for that. First, it’s cheap, it has all the pages you will ever need and you get to keep it forever!
When it’s time for work, I keep my phone away and try to stay as focused as possible. I learned a hack that changed my life forever: set a timer for every task you have to do and here is how it will help you.
Let’s say you want to write 4 pages today. Your mind will keep telling you that it’s such a huge task and you won’t finish it on time. You might end up shifting it till the next day. But if you set a certain time for a given task, your mind will be triggered. It will make you want to finish it as quickly as possible before the timer ends. It’s like your mind gets into a competition with your timer. So this method really works.
Remember that work expands based on the time given for it. If you say this will take me 5 days to finish, then you probably won’t finish it in 5 days.
8.Have a me-time
At the end of the day, all work and no play make jack a dull boy. Always create time in a day to do things you love. If scrolling on social media makes you happy and relaxed, then create time for that but be careful, 30 minutes can turn to 3 hours of scrolling quickly.
I have found myself loving the art of painting and I really want to try it. I have started saving money for an iPad and an Apple Pencil and hopefully, I should be able to get one by summer. *fingers crossed*
Let me know in the comments section what your ideal me time looks like.
