Having a night routine has helped me in so many ways. It is literally one of the reasons I don’t get stressed out in the morning.
In this post, I will be telling you all the things I do every single night before I sleep no matter how tired I am. Let’s get into it.
1.shower

I love having hot showers in the night because it helps me to calm my nerves after a very stressful day at college. That feeling of being clean in the night makes me very comfortable and relaxed. After showering, I apply a hydrating moisturizer all over my body and wear clean pajamas.
Once you see me in my pajamas, just know that I am officially done for the day and nothing will make me leave my dorm room again.
2.my skincare routine
I sometimes get lazy about this but I still have to do it no matter what. From applying eye creams to lip balm, everything must be done. If you want to know my full skincare routine, let me know and I will post it as soon as possible. You can check out the toner I use, my favorite black soaps and even this amazing rice water for now.
3.stretch
Stretching is very important after a long day because your muscles are probably tensed. I try to do that for at least 3 minutes and believe me when I tell you that it has helped me to sleep even better.
4.sort out my outfit for the next day
This is very very important. If you’re someone like me that loves to keep snoozing the alarm clock till I’m late, this step will be a priority for you. I always remove the clothes I want to wear and keep them on top of my chair so that I don’t have to start thinking of what to wear the next day. This is such a good time-saving hack.
5.Read for at least 30 minutes and arrange my books.
I love reading what I was taught in class that day before sleeping because if you read what you learned the same day, there is a 70% chance you will not forget it easily.
I also do any assignments I have and then sort out all the books I will need for tomorrow’s classes and put them in my backpack.
If we are on holidays, instead of reading my books, I love to check out some of my favorite blogs like straycurls or my favorite YouTuber, Jackie Aina.
6.meditate
meditating is so important to me. It helps me to reflect on my day and to see if I am actually working towards my goals or not. I love doing this after I have turned off my light and laid on my bed.
7.stay hydrated
Drink a lot of water before sleeping because your body won’t get any liquid for the next 7-8 hours. I prefer to take hot tea at night while I am reading. For some reasons, it keeps me more focused and I get to become hydrated.
8.pray
A day without talking to God is a day wasted(in my opinion). As a Muslim, it’s compulsory for us to pray 5 times daily but I love to go the extra mile and pray more and read the Qur’an. It’s such an amazing feeling when you’re talking to God and telling him all your problems because you have complete faith in him that he will make everything better.
9.stay away from blue light for at least 30mins
Shut down your laptop, plug your phone and just switch off the light and go to bed. That’s it. Don’t make the mistake of going into bed with your phone because you will never sleep on time.
10.forgive, forget and sleep
Did somebody annoy you today? Forgive them. Are you worried about the next day? Forget about it for now. I always love to empty my mind and make peace with everyone before I sleep because you don’t know what might happen (I mean, I could die before tomorrow, right? (God forbid though))
These are what I do every single night before I sleep and since I started doing such, my life has become so much easier and less stressful.

This is a really good routine. In the past few months, I’ve really started upping my evening and morning routines and they’ve been doing wonders. I’m not quite at this level though! Keep it up?

Interesting post. I agree with reducing exposure to blue light, and make a point of having night mode on my phone a couple of hours before I go to sleep.

Love this list! I do wish I could do at least half of these each night, though. ? I do 1 and 2 quite religiously, as I literally can’t sleep without showering first. Sometimes I forget to do my skincare but I’ve been pretty consistent for maybe 3 weeks now. Hopefully it continues! ❤️
